SNGPL and SSGC gas bills in Pakistan use a progressive slab structure — the first 0.5 MMBtu per month is heavily subsidised, with rates rising sharply for higher consumption. This calculator estimates your monthly gas bill based on OGRA-approved residential tariff slabs.
How to use: Enter your monthly consumption in MMBtu — this is printed on your gas bill in the 'Units Consumed' or 'Consumption' row. If your bill shows cubic feet, divide by 1,000 to get an approximate MMBtu figure.
Enter your monthly gas consumption to estimate your SNGPL or SSGC bill based on current OGRA-approved residential slabs.
Rates are approximate based on latest OGRA determination. Actual bill includes fixed monthly charge and GST. Winter consumption typically higher.
Understanding Your Gas Bill Estimate
The result shows gas charges (slab-based rate on your consumption) plus a fixed monthly connection fee plus 10% GST. Actual bills may include a meter rent charge and occasional adjustments. Winter bills are typically higher as heating and geyser use push consumption into higher slabs. Compare the estimate to your last paper bill — if they differ significantly, check whether you're in an SNGPL area (Punjab/KP) or SSGC area (Sindh/Balochistan), as slab rates differ between the two.
Frequently Asked Questions
When a meter reader can't access your meter (locked gate, absent resident), SSGC or SNGPL records an estimated reading based on your historical average. The next actual reading then shows a correction — this is why some bills suddenly appear higher or lower. Our gas meter reading guide shows how to provide your own reading.
MMBtu stands for Million British Thermal Units — Pakistan's gas billing standard. One MMBtu is roughly 28.3 cubic metres or 1,000 cubic feet of gas. Your meter shows cubic feet; your bill converts this to MMBtu for the tariff calculation.
The biggest winter cost driver is water heating — switching to a solar water heater eliminates geyser gas use entirely. For space heating, insulating doors and windows reduces heat loss. Staying under 4 MMBtu per month keeps you in the subsidised lower slabs.
