MEPCO's online bill portal allows consumers across southern Punjab — Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, and 11 surrounding districts — to check their current bill using the 14-digit reference number found in the top-right of any paper bill.

4 Steps to Check Your MEPCO Bill Online

Find your 14-digit MEPCO reference number (starts with 43 or 44 for most districts), open mepco.com.pk, submit it, and read your current bill breakdown.

Step 1

Find Your MEPCO Reference Number

Your MEPCO paper bill has the reference number printed clearly in the top area — look for "Reference No." or "Consumer No." MEPCO reference numbers are 14 digits and typically begin with 43 or 44 depending on your district. Multan city itself usually starts with 4301; Bahawalpur starts with 44.

MEPCO serves a large territory across southern Punjab — over 7 million consumers from Multan to DG Khan. If you've recently moved from another DISCO area (say, LESCO in Lahore), your new home will have a completely different reference number format. Don't reuse an old LESCO reference number on the MEPCO portal.

Can't find the bill? Call MEPCO's helpline at 061-111-000-118 with your complete address including house number, street, and city. Their system can pull the reference by address lookup.

Step 2

Access the MEPCO Bill Inquiry Portal

Go to mepco.com.pk and click on "Bill Inquiry" in the main navigation. The portal is straightforward — it opens to a single-field entry screen. MEPCO's website has been stable in recent years and loads quickly on both mobile and desktop connections.

One thing to watch: MEPCO's portal sometimes opens a pop-up for bill payment services. Close that and stay on the Bill Inquiry page — you only need the inquiry function right now. The portal is for viewing only; payment happens through JazzCash, Easypaisa, or your bank app.

Step 3

Submit Your Reference Number and Review the Result

Type your 14-digit MEPCO reference number into the field and click Submit. Your bill appears within a few seconds. Check the billing month first — it should be the most recent cycle. The bill breaks down your charges: energy charges by slab, fixed charges, FPA for the month, TV fee, and applicable government taxes.

MEPCO uses a slab tariff system where the first 100 units are billed at a lower rate and higher usage pushes all units into a more expensive slab. Our Electricity Slab System guide explains exactly how this works. The portal shows which slab your consumption falls into this month.

If the bill shows an "Estimated" reading (marked with 'E'), your meter was not physically read that month. Estimated bills self-correct on the next actual reading cycle — but if estimates have been running for 3+ months, call 061-111-000-118 to request an actual reading.

Step 4

Save a Record and Pay Before the Due Date

Use your browser's Print function (select "Save as PDF") to keep a digital copy. MEPCO's due dates typically fall 15–18 days after the bill date. For a bill dated the 5th of the month, expect a due date around the 20th–23rd.

MEPCO accepts payment through all major channels: JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank branch counter, 1Link ATM, and most banking apps. JazzCash is the most convenient for Multan area consumers since Jazz has extensive agent coverage across southern Punjab. See our JazzCash bill payment guide for step-by-step instructions.

When Things Go Wrong

MEPCO portal blank after reference number entry

Clear your browser cache and retry, or switch browsers. The MEPCO portal has occasional compatibility issues with older browser versions. Chrome is most reliable.

Reference number giving 'Not Found' on MEPCO portal

Verify the first two digits — MEPCO codes start with 43 (Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran) or 44 (Bahawalpur, RY Khan, Rahim Yar Khan). If your number starts with a different code, you may be in a different DISCO area.

Bill shows estimated reading for multiple months

Multiple estimated readings mean your meter hasn't been physically read. This creates risk of a large catch-up bill when the actual reading is eventually taken. Request a scheduled actual reading by calling 061-111-000-118.

MEPCO payment not showing on portal after 2 days

Call 061-111-000-118 with your payment receipt number. Online payments post within 24 hours; bank counter payments may take 48–72 hours. MEPCO can manually confirm receipt on their end.

Frequently Asked Questions

MEPCO covers southern Punjab — Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Vehari, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, and DG Khan. It's Pakistan's largest DISCO by geographic area.

Under the slab system, consuming over 300 units in a month pushes all your units into the highest slab, not just the excess. Keeping below 300 units per month can significantly reduce your bill. Our slab system guide shows the current NEPRA-approved slab rates.

MEPCO helpline: 118 (toll-free within MEPCO area) or 061-111-000-118. For emergency power outages, call 118 — it connects to MEPCO's 24/7 operations centre.

Online, only the most recent bill is available. For older bills, visit your nearest MEPCO subdivision office — they can print bills for up to 12 months back from their records.

Consumers using under 300 units per month and not having an air conditioner qualify for MEPCO's protected consumer tariff, which has lower per-unit rates. Our Protected vs Non-Protected guide explains the eligibility criteria in detail.
