K-Electric is the sole electricity provider for Karachi and surrounding areas — its online bill portal at ke.com.pk allows consumers to check bills using the KE account number (not a 14-digit reference number like WAPDA DISCOs).

4 Steps to Check and Pay Your K-Electric Bill

Find your KE account number (labeled 'Account No.' or 'K.No.' on your bill), open ke.com.pk, enter it, and view your current bill with FCA breakdown.

Step 1

Find Your K-Electric Account Number

K-Electric — Karachi's sole electricity distributor — uses an Account Number rather than a "Reference Number" like WAPDA DISCOs. It's printed at the top of your paper bill, labeled "Account No." or "K.No." The number is typically 10–13 digits, starting with a letter or number depending on your area. For example: K123456789 or 02-1-234567-001.

K-Electric serves all of Karachi and parts of Balochistan's Hub industrial area. If you live in Karachi, your electricity bill is from K-Electric — there's no other electricity distributor in the city.

Don't have your bill? K-Electric's self-service portal lets you register once and then access all future bills digitally. Alternatively, call KE helpline at 118 (from Karachi) or 021-111-003-004 with your full address to get your account number.

Step 2

Open the K-Electric Online Bill Portal

Go to ke.com.pk and click on "My KE" or "Pay Bill" from the homepage. K-Electric has invested more in its digital infrastructure than most WAPDA DISCOs — the portal loads quickly and works well on both mobile and desktop. There's also the K-Electric app available on Android and iOS, which is the most feature-rich bill management tool offered by any Pakistani DISCO.

On the portal, you can check your bill without registering — click "Bill Inquiry" and enter your account number. If you want to set up bill alerts, schedule payments, or track your consumption history, create a free account using your K-Electric account number and mobile number.

Step 3

Enter Your Account Number and Read Your K-Electric Bill

Enter your K-Electric account number in the inquiry field and submit. Your current bill loads showing the billing month, meter readings (previous and current), units consumed, your tariff category, and the full charge breakdown.

K-Electric bills include several line items specific to Karachi's grid: the Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) — K-Electric's equivalent of WAPDA's FPA — the Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA), electricity duty, and GST. The FCA can vary significantly month to month and is often the biggest driver of bill changes when your consumption stays consistent.

K-Electric also shows a Net Metering credit line if you have solar panels registered with them — Karachi's high solar irradiation makes KE net metering quite popular. If you see an "Export" figure on the bill, that's the electricity you sent back to the grid.

Step 4

Pay Your K-Electric Bill

K-Electric accepts a wider range of digital payment options than most DISCOs. On ke.com.pk you can pay directly with a debit or credit card — one of the few Pakistani DISCOs that accepts card payment on their own portal. You can also pay through JazzCash, Easypaisa, all major bank apps, and UBL Omni agents across Karachi.

K-Electric's due date is typically 15 days from the bill date. Late payment attracts a 2% per month surcharge. If you set up auto-debit from your bank account through ke.com.pk, the system automatically pays each bill on the due date — useful for preventing accidental late payments during busy months.

One Karachi-specific note: K-Electric disconnects faster than WAPDA DISCOs after the due date — often within 3–5 days of the deadline if the account has a history of late payments. Don't assume you've extra time beyond the printed due date.

When Things Go Wrong

K-Electric account number format not accepted on portal

K-Electric account numbers vary in format by area. Try entering only the numeric portion without any dashes or letters. If that fails, check ke.com.pk's bill inquiry help section for your specific format, or call 021-111-003-004.

K-Electric portal shows 'No Dues' but paper bill shows amount

KE's online system may not yet reflect a newly generated bill. The portal updates within 24–48 hours of bill generation. If the paper bill due date is approaching, pay via JazzCash or your bank app using the account number — they pull from a real-time database.

K-Electric bill very high this month without explanation

Check the FCA (Fuel Cost Adjustment) line specifically — it can swing by Rs. 3–8 per unit month to month. Also check whether your meter was estimated in previous months and is now correcting. Call KE at 118 if the units consumed figure looks genuinely wrong.

K-Electric disconnected me after on-time payment

This is rare but does happen when a payment posts after the disconnection order was already processed. Go to the nearest KE service centre with your payment confirmation — KE reconnects on the same day for confirmed paid accounts at their service centres.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — K-Electric has one of the best DISCO apps in Pakistan. The 'My KE' app on Android and iOS lets you check bills, view consumption history, pay by card or bank, report outages, and track complaints. Download it from ke.com.pk or your phone's app store.

FCA stands for Fuel Cost Adjustment — K-Electric's equivalent of WAPDA's FPA. It's a monthly variable charge determined by the actual fuel mix used to generate or purchase electricity that month. High oil-based generation raises the FCA; more hydro or renewables lower it. Our FPA/FCA guide explains the calculation.
