Easypaisa supports electricity bill payment for all major Pakistani DISCOs via both the smartphone app and the USSD *786# menu — making it one of the most widely accessible payment channels in areas with limited smartphone penetration.
Check Your Easypaisa Wallet Balance
Open the Easypaisa app and your wallet balance is displayed prominently on the home screen. The payment must cover the full bill amount — Easypaisa's utility bill payment feature doesn't support split payments across methods.
If your balance is insufficient: tap "Add Money" to top up. Easypaisa supports adding money from linked bank accounts via 1Link, from Telenor prepaid balance (for small amounts), or from any Easypaisa agent with cash. Loading from a bank account is instant for most banks; agent loads post within a few minutes.
Easypaisa has slightly lower transaction limits than JazzCash for unverified accounts. If you're trying to pay a large summer bill (Rs. 15,000+), confirm your account is fully verified with CNIC — go to Easypaisa app → Account → Upgrade Account if needed.
Open Bill Payments in Easypaisa
From the Easypaisa home screen, tap "Bill Payments" or look for the utility icon. The app organises bills into categories — tap "Electricity". A full list of Pakistani DISCOs appears: all 11 WAPDA DISCOs plus K-Electric are supported.
Easypaisa also supports electricity bill payment via USSD for users without
smartphones. Dial *786# from any Telenor number, select
"Bill Payments," then "Electricity," then your DISCO. This works on basic
feature phones and is particularly useful in areas of KP, Balochistan, and
interior Sindh where smartphone penetration is lower.
Select Your DISCO, Enter the Reference Number, and Confirm
Tap your DISCO from the list. An entry field appears — type your 14-digit electricity reference number. Tap "Verify Bill". Easypaisa fetches your current outstanding amount from the DISCO's database in real time.
The screen shows your consumer name, bill month, and exact amount. Cross-check the consumer name with what's on your bill. If it looks correct, tap "Pay Now", review the summary one last time, enter your Easypaisa PIN, and confirm. The payment completes immediately.
A subtle but important difference from JazzCash: Easypaisa sometimes shows two amounts — the "bill amount" and the amount including the service charge. The higher figure (with the service charge) is what will be deducted from your wallet. Always check which figure you're approving.
Keep Your Easypaisa Receipt
After payment, Easypaisa shows a success screen with a Transaction Reference Number. Screenshot it immediately. An SMS confirmation also arrives on your Telenor number within seconds.
Your Easypaisa transaction history (app → Transactions) keeps a log of all bill payments — you can refer back to it months later if a payment dispute arises. The log shows the DISCO name, reference number paid, amount, and date for each transaction.
Post-payment, the DISCO system updates within 30 minutes to 4 hours. If you're paying very close to the disconnection deadline, call the DISCO helpline immediately after payment with the Easypaisa reference number — they can manually flag the account as paid while the system update is in progress.
When Things Go Wrong
The USSD menu has limited character space — DISCOs may be abbreviated. Scroll through all options before assuming yours isn't there. K-Electric may appear as 'KElectric' and SEPCO as 'SEPCO Sukkur.' If genuinely not listed, use the Easypaisa app instead.
Check the Easypaisa transaction history immediately. Failed transactions that deduct balance are automatically reversed within 24 hours. If not reversed after 24 hours, call Easypaisa helpline at 042-111-003-737.
This could mean: the connection is in the previous tenant's name (common in rental properties), or you've entered a slightly wrong reference number. If the reference number is definitely correct and the name is the previous owner, the payment still works — the reference number is what matters for DISCO credit posting.
Easypaisa requires biometric (fingerprint or face ID) for transactions above certain thresholds on fully verified accounts. This is a security feature, not a problem. Complete the biometric check to proceed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — the Easypaisa app works on any smartphone regardless of your SIM operator. The USSD *786# method requires a Telenor number. For non-Telenor users, use the app, which functions over any internet connection including Wi-Fi.
Easypaisa charges a service fee of approximately Rs. 5–15 per transaction depending on the bill amount. The exact fee is shown on the confirmation screen before you finalise. It's similar to the JazzCash fee.
Yes. K-Electric is listed under Easypaisa's Electricity section. Enter your KE account number when prompted. The same process applies as for WAPDA DISCO payments.
Yes — upon successful payment, Easypaisa notifies the DISCO's billing system automatically. You don't need to separately inform the DISCO. Keep your transaction reference as proof in case the update is delayed.
Contact Easypaisa helpline immediately at 042-111-003-737. Wrong DISCO payments are treated as failed transactions and reversed, as the reference number won't match any account in the wrong DISCO's database.
