Pakistan's passport office offers urgent and executive processing at higher fees — urgent (7-day delivery) costs Rs. 5,000–8,000 and executive (2-day at limited offices) costs Rs. 8,000–12,000 depending on pages and validity, compared to Rs. 3,000–6,000 for normal processing.
Understand the Urgent and Executive Passport Options
DGIP offers two expedited processing options beyond normal processing:
Urgent (7 working days): Available at all standard passport offices. Costs roughly double the normal fee. Use this if you've a confirmed trip or visa appointment within 4–6 weeks but don't need same-week processing.
Executive (3 working days): Available only at designated Executive Passport Centres — currently in Islamabad (G-8/4), Lahore (Gulberg), Karachi (Clifton), and a few other major cities. Costs significantly more than urgent. Requires booking an executive appointment slot, which is limited and fills fast. For situations where you genuinely need a passport within a week.
Apply Online and Select Urgent/Executive Category
The application process at dgip.gov.pk is the same for all processing speeds. When filling the form, select "Urgent" or "Executive" as your processing category. The system then calculates the corresponding fee.
For Executive passports, you must select one of the designated Executive Passport Centres as your appointment location — the executive option doesn't appear in the appointment booking if the selected office doesn't offer it. Book the executive appointment immediately after payment confirmation — these slots are the first to fill.
Attend the Appointment With All Documents
Expedited appointments are the same as regular appointments — same documents (CNIC original + copy, photos, payment receipt, old passport for renewals). The difference is only in the processing speed after the appointment.
Urgent and Executive applications are processed separately from normal applications in the DGIP system, which is why they're faster — they have dedicated processing queues. When you arrive at the appointment, confirm at the counter that your application is marked Urgent/Executive in the system.
Track and Collect the Expedited Passport
Urgent passports should show "Printed" or "Ready for Collection" on the DGIP portal within 7 working days of your biometric appointment. Executive within 3 working days. Track at dgip.gov.pk or SMS your CNIC to 9000.
If the expected timeline passes without a status update, call DGIP at 051-9205736 immediately — expedited applications that miss their SLA are given priority in the resolution queue.
Passport Application Problems
Executive processing is only at designated centres (Islamabad G-8/4, Lahore Gulberg, Karachi Clifton, etc.). If your chosen office doesn't offer executive, switch to one of the designated centres in the appointment booking step.
Call DGIP at 051-9205736 with your application reference. Urgent applications beyond SLA are escalated for priority processing — the helpline can flag your application.
Frequently Asked Questions
DGIP doesn't offer a standard 24-hour service. Executive processing (3 working days) is the fastest formal option. For genuine national emergencies (medical, death of close relative abroad), visit the passport office in person and explain the situation — discretionary same-day processing exists in very limited circumstances but isn't guaranteed.
Yes — executive processing applies to new applications, renewals, and duplicates equally, provided you attend a designated executive centre and book an executive appointment slot.
