Here's everything you need to activate a Telenor SMS bundle — useful for sending messages to banks, government portals, and contacts on any network.

3 Steps to Activate a Telenor SMS Package

Check your current SMS status, choose a bundle, dial the code, and send a test SMS to confirm it's deducting from the bundle.

Daily SMS Offer500100Rs. 6*340#1 day
Weekly SMS Bundle5,000500Rs. 25*340*2#7 days
Monthly SMS Bundle Popular10,0001,000Rs. 50*340*3#30 days
Step 1

Check Your Current Telenor SMS Status

Dial *444# and select "Package Status" to see if you've any active SMS bundle. You'll see how many SMS remain and when the bundle expires. If you're sending SMS to government services (like BISP's 8171 or NADRA's 8300), it's worth having even a basic daily bundle active — those services respond faster when messages are delivered reliably, and going without a bundle means paying per-SMS from your main balance.

Step 2

Pick the Right Telenor SMS Bundle

Telenor offers SMS bundles in daily, weekly, and monthly formats. The monthly bundle is the best value for frequent texters — 10,000 SMS for Rs. 50 works out to 0.5 paisa per SMS, versus 10–12 paisa per SMS from the main balance. If you only need SMS for a day (perhaps to interact with a government portal or bank OTP system), the daily bundle at Rs. 6 makes more sense than paying the full monthly rate.

Note that OTPs and bank alert SMS messages are delivered to you as an incoming SMS — you don't pay to receive them. An SMS bundle only affects outgoing messages you send.

Step 3

Activate and Verify

Dial the code for your chosen Telenor SMS package (see the table above) and press Call. Confirmation will appear within a few seconds. To verify, send a test SMS to a friend or to 1021 (Telenor balance check). Then dial *444# again and check Package Status — your SMS count should have decreased by 1 from the bundle total, confirming it's live.

If you need SMS primarily for business contacts on other networks (Jazz, Zong, Ufone), confirm the "Off-Net SMS" column in the table — some cheaper bundles are on-net only and don't cover messages to other operators.

What to Do if Activation Doesn't Work

SMS being charged from main balance despite active bundle

Telenor on-net SMS bundles only cover messages to other Telenor numbers. If you're texting a Jazz or Ufone number, those use off-net SMS or your main balance. Check whether your bundle includes off-net SMS.

SMS not delivered to government portals (8171, 8300)

Delivery to short codes like 8171 or 668 depends on your SMS balance or main balance — both work. If delivery is failing, it's usually a network congestion issue, not a bundle problem. Try sending again after a few minutes.

Bundle expired before I used all SMS

Telenor SMS bundles expire based on validity (days), not usage. If you activated a 7-day bundle but only used 200 of 5,000 SMS, the unused messages expire on day 7. There's no rollover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Standard Telenor SMS packages cover domestic SMS only. International SMS to foreign numbers is charged separately at international per-SMS rates from your main balance — these aren't covered by any standard local bundle.

Telenor occasionally offers free SMS with certain recharge amounts or with combined bundle promotions. Check the My Telenor app or dial *345# for any current SMS promotions. These change frequently.

Consumer SIM SMS bundles are for personal use. For business bulk SMS, Telenor offers a separate corporate messaging service — contact their business helpline at 345 for details on business messaging accounts.

First check if you've sufficient main balance — some Telenor setups require a small positive balance even for bundled SMS. Also check that you're not SMS-blocked by your account settings. Dial 345 to speak with support if the issue persists.
